Winter Giveaway

That's right, folks.  I'm giving away winter.  ;)

Honestly, it's beyond cold outside.  So many days in a row of below freezing weather just doesn't seem fair.  Tonight it's supposed to be -14 C.  The snow is frozen to the road, and the icicles are ominously long, behaving as if they think it's already January.  Snow covers everything, as you can see.  The locks on the doors are frozen in place, so too are the horses in the field.

Well, okay, I'm only kidding about the horses.  But if you'd like winter, you're welcome to it.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to get back into the crafty spirit so I can make some holiday gifts for my sweet children.  I try to make them something every year.  Last year I made a stuffed dog for Kitty Bill and new dolls for both the girls.  This year?  I am completely out of ideas.  I suppose winter is keeping me inside for a reason.

As for the real giveaway, to celebrate my 300th post, I have this sweet little 'doll under the stars' mobile to share with the lucky winner.  To sweeten the deal, I'll tuck some Swiss chocolates into the package as well.  Goodness knows one can never have enough chocolate.  ;)

Please leave a comment on this post if you'd like a chance to win.  Extra entries if you follow my blog or mention the giveaway on your own blog.  Just let me know in the comments.  And if you're making gifts this year, I'd love to hear about them.  I'll be accepting comments through next Thursday, December 9th, and I'll announce the winner on Friday, December 10th.

Good luck!!

I don't "follow" your blog, but I have you on my front page blog roll...does that count? ;D

And if I do win this, please let me give you something in return...perhaps something I plan to make for my neighbors (holiday soaps with a little ceramic dish)?

  4. What a winter wonderland you live in! We had a couple days of "cold" and a tiny bit of "snow" and it was a big huge deal... aah, the west coast. I love it though... who wants to live in that kind of cold? :)

Last year I made kite paper stars for my friends and I think this year I am making tin can lanterns. I have some tin cans... lets see if I get it together to punch holes in them to make lanterns :)

I'm so glad you are posting again, I always love your blog!

  7. Sara, we've only had a day of real snow and my husband thought we should move to Florida! I said no way, the insects in Florida are too big.

As for presents, what about making some doll clothes, blankets for the dolls, or a sling to carry the dolls? What about a cat for Kitty Bill so the dog has a companion? Or maybe another dog, or a shepherd and some sheep so the dog has some work to do?

I hope your creativity will return soon.

  8. Sara, your snow pictures are so beautiful. We only have a dusting so far. Congatulations on 300 posts. All your posts are such gems. I always love visiting you here. Thank you for all that you share with us. What a lovely creation your mobile is, with so much character. We've made crystal stars this week. I'm crafting away here. Knitting a nativity scene, and needlefelting a St Nicholas. Enjoy all that snow and enjoy the Advent season.

    Best wishes
    Kelly

  27. Congrats on 300! I always enjoy my visits to your world. For gifts this year we are making a wooden stable (seem apropos of the season -no?) a tool belt and wooden tools, and a room of one's own for our biggest girl. But it's the children who are busier than elves with the crafting and creating.

  29. Your little doll is so very sweet! How exciting it would be to get a package all the way from Switzerland! (We have plenty of winter here though so if I happen to win you do not need to send along any extra cold or snow...)

Hope you have been very well Sara! Happy St. Nicholas day to you!

p.s. You were one of the first Waldorf homeschooling blogs I ever came across, I have been following for a long time now...

  32. Hello Sara, your little doll is adorable. Should I consider moving from the tropics to Colorado? The snow is beautiful though and how I would love to have real seasons. So much spirit here since we are always outdoors, sometimes I wish to rest and spend more time inside crafting, baking and cooking. Horses,, they are my passion, I have 11. There are some great natural horseman in Switzerland. How I long for some good quality chocolate, my in laws live in France and used to bring it for us. Stay warm,, lovely to find your blog.
